Browning appointed Music Director of HCO
Havant Chamber Orchestra – based in the south of the UK – have announced Robin Browning as their new Music Director. This established and versatile semi-professional orchestra perform three concert programmes each season, and enjoy a regular concert series at Fareham’s Ferneham Hall. Made up of professionals, coupled with amateurs of the highest standard, HCO prides itself on quality performances and innovative programming, always welcoming a rich array of soloists.
Take a look at their superb collaboration on the concert platform, in this clip from their most recent concert together, filmed only last month:
Robin has guest-conducted the orchestra a number of times in recent seasons, seeing his relationship with them go from strength to strength. “They’re such talented, willing and hard-working players – professional in outlook and spirit, yet refreshingly fun and easy to work with,” Robin says. “We prepare full-length, often rather complex repertoire, sometimes in a limited amount of rehearsal time. The fact that every concert I’ve done with them has been of great quality, often exceeding all expectations, is testament to their skill, energy and dedication.”
Reviewers have given the partnership similar accolades, praising Browning as an “excellent director” whilst enjoying his “inclusive approach” with the audience, and HCO’s “signature warm string tone and disciplined playing”.
Robin is looking forward to finalising and announcing the 2015-16 season – his first as Music Director – and inviting some of the soloists with whom he’s forged strong relationships to perform alongside him and the orchestra. “I’m keen to continue our fabulous work together, building an even stronger relationship with the audience and welcoming newcomers, as well as exploring the fabulous Chamber Orchestra repertoire further.”
