Robin stepped up to the mark during the Proms season in August at London’s Cadogan Hall, as Assistant Conductor for a performance of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’ Revelation and Fall. Broadcast live on Radio 3 as part of the BBC Proms, Robin assisted principal conductor Sian Edwards and the London Sinfonietta.
As part of a sequence of concerts celebrating the 80th birthdays of two venerated British composers – Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Sir Harrison Birtwistle – this Prom featured three of Max’s most important ensemble works. Revelation and Fall, written in 1966, is a bleak monodrama using Georg Trakl’s text. It features a soprano, who is at times required to use a loudhailer alongside amplified instruments within the ensemble.
